I grew up in Bellevue, WA. I have been passionate about teaching from an early age. In high school, I was the kid that others went to when they didn’t understand the concepts. In my senior year, I became a teacher’s assistant for our Python programming class. My job included walking around and helping students troubleshoot their code, and occasionally giving lectures on new material.
My interest in teaching continued into my college years. I volunteered for the Whitman College Mentor Program, meeting to support disadvantaged elementary school students once a week. During summers and school breaks, I worked as a tutor.
As a junior, I studied abroad in Japan. After my semester at a Japanese university was over, I moved to Tokyo for the summer. There, I got a job teaching English to Japanese businessmen.
I opened Coopersmith Tutoring in 2017. Over the last two years, I’ve helped dozens of students over the course of hundreds of sessions in a variety of academic subjects.
Outside of work, I play competitive chess, I hold a black belt in Taekwondo, I play other high level strategy games, including Go; Shogi; Backgammon; and Poker, and I stay active with Cycling, Hiking, and Swimming.
